Allwyn Appoints Khalid Reede Jones to Lead North America

Global gambling group Allwyn has named Khalid Reede Jones as chief executive officer of its North American division, the company announced on Tuesday.

Jones will begin the Chicago-based position on 6 July and will be responsible for expanding Allwyn’s presence across the region.

He joins Allwyn from the Virginia Lottery, where he served as executive director, bringing more than 20 years of experience in lottery operations, gaming enforcement, licensing and private investment. Allwyn cited his regulatory background, commercial experience and digital-focused approach as relevant qualifications for the role.

Scope of the North America Role

In his new position, Jones will oversee Allwyn’s North American operations, with a focus on broadening the company’s market footprint and delivering technology and games to lottery customers across the region.

That includes serving as operating partner for the Illinois Lottery under Allwyn’s existing state contract. His remit does not cover PrizePicks, Allwyn’s majority-owned fantasy sports business.

The appointment comes as Allwyn continues to diversify its portfolio and expand into new digital products. In 2025, the group acquired US platform PrizePicks for $1.6 billion as part of its move into daily fantasy sports.

Allwyn has also placed emphasis on securing long-term public-private partnerships in the US market, including its 2022 award of a 10-year concession to operate the Illinois Lottery.

Broader Leadership Changes at Allwyn

The company has made several senior hires in recent months, including industry veteran Kresimir Spajic to lead digital transformation. Earlier this year, Allwyn also appointed Katie Harbron as director of games in the UK to support development of its National Lottery portfolio.

Allwyn first took over the UK National Lottery contract in 2024.

Comment from Group CEO

Allwyn chief executive Robert Chvátal said Jones would bring regulatory insight, commercial experience and a focus on responsible growth to the North American business.

He added that Jones’ background in partnerships and digital innovation would be valuable as Allwyn continues to develop its regional operations.
